When our lives feel a bit stagnant, it might mean we need some small changes. This could be achieved by updating your bed and bathrooms, allowing you to brighten your days with only a few alterations. Here are some things to consider to spruce up your home. Look at Your Linens One of the best ways to transform your bedroom, and how well you sleep, is to swap out your linens. When you have a cool environment at night, you’re more likely to sleep deeply, so get sheets that can keep you comfortable in warm weather. Of course, being too cold can keep you awake as well, but a set of flannel sheets can protect you when the temperatures take a drop. Otherwise, linen sheets are great at regulating temperature, and cotton blends give you the softness of cotton with added durability. You might need to experiment with different textures and materials to find the perfect set for your bedroom. Consider Your Curtains Just as temperature can affect how well we sleep at night, so does light, both from our electronics and from the sun. One way we can update our rooms to have a positive impact on our lives and how we feel is to put up new curtains. In fact, blackout curtains can be a fantastic addition, as they keep out sunlight when needed, look fashionable, and stop temperatures from spiking or dipping by adding extra insulation. That, and because they’re sturdy, you can use your vacuum instead of taking them down to wash. Pick New Paints While you’re picking out new curtains, think about the color of your bedroom. What shades are your walls right now? If they’re part of the warm palette, such as red, yellow, or orange, you may want to change them. These inspire energy and help us feel more awake, which is the opposite of what we want when trying to get ready for bed. Instead, choose something cool and pleasant, like soft green, blue, or light pink. They encourage relaxation and can make our bedrooms feel more like the sleep havens we truly need. In fact, you may even notice a slight improvement in your blood pressure should you do so. Whatever hue you decide to choose, color can personalize your space while giving you the peace you deserve. Toss Your Old Towels Bathrooms may seem difficult to modify, but you can change its look with only a few hacks, one of which is by getting fresh towels. Indeed, if your current set is older than two years, it might be time to replace them anyway, as they may have lost absorbency. You can get traditional cotton, or you might try a flat weave. These not only look unique, giving your bathroom a new twist, but they also last longer than other towels and become softer over time, rather than stiffer. Get complementary colors to make your restrooms pop, and you can even have fun by mixing and matching different sets for a colorful, yet similar, look. Decide on Décor
When you look around your bedroom or even your bathroom, how do you feel? If nothing inspires you, or if you have found yourself a bit down lately, it’s time to invest in your décor. Find a few pieces of art that lift your mood, and then use them in your home. They don’t have to match and can be spread out. Look at other accessories too, such as brightly colored rugs that complement your bedspread or a vase that could go well with your new towels. Anything can work so long as it makes you feel happy. It doesn’t take much to transform your home into a relaxing paradise. A few added décor pieces, with fresh linens and towels, and you may be surprised by how unrecognizable your property becomes. It’s just enough to liven your house up and give you a different perspective. Image courtesy of Pixabay
